On the next Modern Notebook, hear saxophone music by Viet Cuong performed by the PRISM Quartet from their newest album. Plus, a meditative work for violin and modular synthesizer by Qasim Naqvi performed by violinist Jennifer Koh.


Including performances by pianist Christopher O’Riley, violinist Miranda Cuckson, International Contemporary Ensemble, and Cobalt Duo; and music by Sarah Lianne Lewis, Jeffrey Mumford, Ashley Stanley, and others.

  • Night Sketches by Ashley Stanley.
  • Arlene Sierra’s Cicada Shell, which is inspired by historical military strategy.
  • Excerpts from Sarah Lianne Lewis’ I Have Observed the Most Distant Planet to Have a Triple Form.
  • Qasim Naqvi’s The Banquet.
  • A set of songs by Kaija Saariaho which sets text by Eino Leino: the Four Leino Songs for soprano and orchestra.
