On this week’s Modern Notebook, Tyler Kline shares music by Unsuk Chin titled Rocana, which means “room of light” in Sanskrit and musically imagines the behavior of beams of light. Plus, a new recording from the Spektral Quartet with flutist Claire Chase performing a work called “The Real Book of Fake Tunes.”


Featuring performances by violinist Miranda Cuckson, Bang on a Can All-Stars, violinist Jennifer Koh, and pianist Liza Stepanova; and music by Anna Weesner, Anthony Cheung, Anna Thorvaldsdottir, Jeffrey Mumford, Kamran Ince, and others.
