Coming up on the next Modern Notebook, Tyler Kline shares music for soprano and piano trio by Jennifer Higdon called “Love Sweet,” which sets five poems about love by poet Amy Lowell. Plus, a string quartet by Jessie Montgomery called “Break Away,” which asks the musicians to “break away” from the written music, blending composed elements with improvisational passages.

Featuring music by Dai Fujikura, Joseph Hallman, Kati Agócs, Jeffrey Mumford, Chen Yi, John Luther Adams, and others; and performances by pianist Jacob Greenberg, bass clarinetist Calvin Falwell, PUBLIQuartet, Lysander Piano Trio, Third Coast Percussion, violinist Miranda Cuckson, and more.

That’s on the next Modern Notebook, Sunday night from 8 to 10 EST on Classical WSMR 89.1 and 103.9. Streaming at wsmr.org and on the WUSF Public Media Mobile App.
